[Paper]: Hydrothermal fractionation of grape seeds in subcritical water to produce oil extract, sugars and lignin

The fractionation of grape seeds as a model biomass was studied using a combination of two processes: solvothermal extraction using ethanol and hydrothermal fractionation-autohydrolysis process in a semicontinuous reactor using subcritial water. Around 70% of the polyphenols were extracted in the first step and close to 80% of the sugars in the second step.

Study of hemicelluloses composition of different tree species, extraction using subcritical water with a batch cascade reactor

Hemicelluloses from 10 different tree species commonly growing in the Castilla y Leon region have been extracted with a batch cascade reactor. Raw materials came from tree branches, cut during the seasonal pruning. The aim was to correlate the yield of hemicellulose achieved through the extractions, with the total composition and the structure of the […]

[Paper] The use of modelling to understand the mechanism of hydrogen peroxide direct synthesis from batch, semibatch and continuous reactor points of view

Hydrogen peroxide direct synthesis was experimentally studied in three different reactors, namely the batch, semibatch and trickle bed reactors (TBR), using a new promising catalyst based on Pd/K2621. Excellent results were obtained from the experimental point of view, achieving high H2O2 selectivities, around 90% for a short contact time in the batch reactor, 60% in […]

[Thesis] Fractionation process of surplus biomass by autohydrolysis in subcritical water obtaining added value products by Florencia M. Yedro

In the past years, the challenge is a society based on the concept of bioeconomy. This term refers to the sustainable production and conversion of biomass into a range of food, health, fibre, industrial products and energy developed in futures biorefineries. The hydrothermal process has been proposed to develop sustainable and efficient conversion of natural […]
