The High Presssure Processes Group disposes of a variety of equipment and facilities, both their own and shared with other research groups, what are regulary used to carry out its projects and developments. According to the size and purpose of the equipment, they can be categorized into different groups:

In special cases a preparation or pretreatment stage is necesary before reactives or raw material could be introduced into the experimental devices. Also pretreatment could be necesary to conserve the raw material until its utilization or as previous stage before analysis.

The physical – chemical characterization of raw materials, products and processes are key stages in the development of new products and processes. HPPG disposes of high specialized equipments for the measurement and control of the products and processes’ propierties and parameters. Among other, HPPG disposes of: liquid and gas cromatographs, equipment for particle characterization, antioxidant activity measurement, equipment for suspensions characterization…

Visual cells allow to observe and determine the equilibrium boundaries and phases behavior of the target systems. When new processes are investigated, the equilibrum analysis is determinant to predict and understand the results and correctly define the experimental design. HPGG disposes of different phase equilibria cells that can be used on base of the needs of the processes (pressure, temperature, solid phase, etc…).

Laboratory scale plants (LSP) are low capacity but high flexibility facilities. LSP are used at the first stage of a researching when not a high productiviy capacity is need but a great amount of experimental essays are required. On LSP, any modifications could be done quickly and with a relative low cost, what allow to reach easily the best process configuration and conditions.

Pilot plants (PP) have a production capacity around 3 – 5 kg/h. Maintaining the versatility, PP’s are design to be used for a specific process or product. Pilot plants are used in a second research stage once the LSP capacity has been surpassed or to analyses process’s aspects that could not been investigated at smaller scales as energetic integration and processes optimization.
