Dra. Miriam Rueda Noriega (Valladolid, 1987) started the studies of Chemical Engineering at University of Valladolid in 2005. In the academic course 2010-2011 she spent 9 months at the Technical University of Denmark (DTU) in the frame of the Erasmus Program, being the first contact with research.
At the return from Denmark, she graduated (September 2011) and joined to the High Pressure Processes Group of the Department of Chemical Engineering (University of Valladolid) for a M.S. in Thermodynamic Engineering of Fluid. She continued with the PhD in Chemical Engineering and Environmental Technology, framed in the National project ENE2011-24547 ‘Light Hydrogen Storage materials for mobile applications’. Her PhD thesis, defended in 2016 was focused in developing different strategies to enhance properties of solid hydrogen storage materials based on hydrides. During the Ph.D. Thesis the author completed its research work with two international l internships at Pavia Hydrogen Lab, at the Chemistry Department of Pavia University (Italy) during 2014 and 2015. There she could measure hydrogen properties of novel hydrogen storage materials synthesized by herself.
Lastly, a business plan was developed in order to go from the lab to the market , with the startup-up called ‘Light Energy’ to offer batteries for drones of solid hydrogen based on innovative hydride materials developed during her thesis. This project has been awarded by Yuzz (2nd position al national level) and Model2Market-Indra.
Recently, she has received a research grant from Iberdrola in order to continue her investigation during 2016-2017 to study the cyclability of the hydrogen storage materials studied during her pHD thesis.
