María Andérez received her diploma in Chemical Engineering in 2015 from University of Valladolid. During her studies, she had the opportunity to join two different researches in the High Pressure Processes group: “Purification of β-glucans from barley extracts using ultrafiltration membranes” and “Hydrolysis of cellobiose in HTW using ruthenium heterogeneous catalyst”.
She performed her master thesis at Åbo Akademi (Turku, Finland) during nine months, focusing on the extraction of hemicelluloses from different types of wood and hydrolysis of these extracts using homogeneous and heterogeneous catalysts.
From 2015 to 2016 she worked at Leibniz Institute for Catalysis, LIKAT (Rostock, Germany), researching about the dehydrogenation of different hydrogen carriers using homogeneous organometallic catalysts. In 2016 she joined HPP group as Ph.D. student. Her thesis is related to the reduction of CO2 in hydrothermal medium using lignocellulosic derivatives as reductants.
