The biorefinery approach centralises biomass as the main raw material to produce fuels, energy, heat and value-added chemicals. Biomass is mainly considered a renewable source. In a biorefinery several processes of pretreatment, fractionation, conversion and purification are combined to maximise the efficiency of the raw material in a sustainable manner.
In our group we study several of these processes to help in the important task of making biorefineries a success in the forthcoming future:
- Biomass Fractionation
- Ultra – fast Hydrolisis (UFH)
- Solvation ILs
- Depolymerization
- Catalytic valorization
